Sources report that at this time, it's not clear if the first-time buyer program will end on December 1, 2009, or be extended further. It seems the focus will shift away from home purchasing with the impending health "reform" plans. We encourage buyers and agents to write their contracts with this in mind — closing escrow prior to December 1 — to take advantage of the $8000K rebate!

Check out this story in the San Jose Mercury - due to a computer error, some Santa Clara County residents will be getting a supplemental tax bill.
According to this article, an unknown number (possibly 3300) homes were not assessed at the proper value, so supplemental bills will be sent out. Per the Mercury, "People who bought newer homes at the lower end of the market — especially townhomes — are most likely to be affected."

In wake of the many fires in California, it brings to mind the value of renter's insurance. If you rent a property, are you aware that if the house burns down, the owner's insurance does NOT cover your belongings? The property owner's insurance covers the structure, but contents that are not the owner's possessions are not covered under most circumstances.
Renter's insurance is very economical, and very worthwhile! We always recommend that renters investigate and secure an insurance policy to protect their personal property.
